The Nurse Manager is a professional nursing position responsible for the overall unit operation and for planning, coordinating, assessing, implementing and evaluating the total plan of care for each resident on the assigned unit. It is the responsibility of this position to ensure that staff provide the necessary care and services to attain and maintain the highest practicable physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being of residents. Works closely with Rehabilitation Manager and MDS team.
- Ensuring delivery of quality nursing care to each resident by coordinating a meaningful interdisciplinary Plan of Care
- Overseeing the medication process to include review of proper procedures and accountability
- Ensuring all nursing and medical records properly document the quality of care in order to meet state, federal and VA regulations
- Maintaining adequate staffing
- Investigating unit incident reports accurately, and with timely resolve
- Communicating unit needs clearly to the DNS, making written and oral reports/recommendations as needed
- Supervising nurses and direct care staff in a fair and consistent manner, including training, performance review and counseling
Experience and Skills
- Valid, unencumbered Registered Nurse License, authorized to work in the State of Maine
- A combination of 3-5 years training and experience in areas such as geriatrics, rehabilitation, Alzheimer’s and dementia
- Prior supervisory experience in a long term care facility highly desirable
- Experience and ability to organize, direct, and coordinate nursing personnel to meet the total needs of the residents.
