Shape Smiles. Strengthen Communities. Build Your Future With Us.

Are you looking for more than just a job? At Hometown Health Center (HHC), you’ll join a mission-driven team committed to delivering compassionate, community-based care—and to supporting the people who make it all happen. As we prepare to open our brand-new, state-of-the-art health center in Palmyra in December 2025, we’re looking for dedicated professionals ready to grow their careers while making a meaningful impact across Central Maine.

And there’s more good news: our new facility will offer on-site daycare, making it even easier to achieve the work-life balance that our team values and supports every day.

About Us

Since 2003, HHC has been a cornerstone of care in Central Maine. As a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC), we serve more than 8,200 patients annually through over 32,000 medical, dental, and behavioral health visits. With locations in Dexter, Newport, and soon Palmyra, we’re deeply rooted in the communities we serve—and proud of it.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic dental team. This role can be full-time or part-time, with opportunities to serve patients in Dexter, at our School-Based Health Center in Newport, and possibly through our upcoming Mobile Dental Unit launching in summer 2025. This innovative mobile operatory will allow us to deliver care directly to children and families in rural and underserved areas.

Whether you're early in your career or a seasoned hygienist looking for meaningful work, we invite you to bring your skills and compassion to a team that values your expertise and supports your growth.

What You’ll Do

  • Deliver preventive dental care including cleanings, fluoride, sealants, and patient education
  • Conduct oral health assessments and support diagnosis and treatment planning
  • Collaborate closely with our dentists and broader care team
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Promote oral health and hygiene through school-based and community outreach efforts
  • Help shape the future of dental access in Central Maine—one smile at a time

What You’ll Need
Required:

  • Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene program
  • Current Maine Dental Hygienist license
  • CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Strong communication skills and a patient-centered approach
  • Team-oriented and adaptable to diverse settings

Preferred:

  • One or more years of clinical hygiene experience
  • Experience working with children or underserved populations
  • Comfort with digital charting and electronic dental records

Why HHC?

  • Be part of a mission-driven, growing FQHC that values your voice and vision
  • Enjoy a supportive, flexible work culture with an emphasis on balance
  • Join a passionate, collaborative team focused on care, not quotas
  • Benefit from on-site daycare (anticipated opening Dec 2025) and expanded services
  • Make a real difference where it’s needed most—in the heart of rural Maine
  • Eligible for federal and state loan repayment programs (including NHSC), helping you reduce debt while serving the community
  • We support your continued professional growth through CEU opportunities, ongoing training, and a team culture that values learning
