Summary:
The Genetics Counselor role is responsible for assessing individual or family risk for a variety of inherited conditions, such as genetic disorders and birth defects, and advises individuals and families to support informed decision-making and coping methods for those at risk.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: Master’s Degree in Genetics Counseling.
  2. License/Certifications: Board certified or eligible for certification by the American Board of Medical Genetics (ABMG) or American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC).
  3. Experience: Genetic counseling experience preferred.
