Full job description RSU 24 is seeking a food service specialist I to join our team for the 2025-2026 school year. Working 25 hours per week this position will be based at our Charles M Sumner Learning Campus but trained at all our district locations to have the ability to fill in as needed at all locations (Cave Hill School-Eastbrook, Ella Lewis School-Steuben, Mountain View School-Sullivan, Peninsula School-Prospect Harbor, and Sumner in Sullivan). This position requires flexibilty, knowledge of food safety and sanitation and the ability to work independently. Successful candiate should be self motivated, friendly, a team player and adapt easily to change. Essential duties and resposibilites (other duties may be assigned)
  • Handling and preparing all foods in accordance with the sanitary requirements and State of Maine regulations for good nutrition.
  • Preparing and serving food that is wholesome, palatable and appetizing in appearance
  • Meeting meal schedules, avoiding food waste, planning for the following day's meal, to include properly thawing of foods
  • Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots the Point of Sales cash register system to include, but not limited to entering data, making transactions to the students and adult accounts, counting money, reconciling and making deposits.
  • Attends meetings and required training on and off site
  • Demonstrates a team approach through interaction with other staff, students and their family.
Education and Experience: High school diploma (or GED) and 3 years of relevant food service experience preferred.
