Our client, a full-service mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to add to their team.
The Safety Specialist will assist the Safety Manager in the development, modification, and implementation of the company safety policies. They will partner with all departments to promote and support a “best in class” safety culture and ensure they are compliant with OSHA, DOT, and other construction industry standards. They will work with project managers, and the front-line construction project supervisors in the consistent planning and implementation of the company safety program elements and will conduct regular job site safety assessments and assist in coaching and mentoring field supervision on best practice safety standards.
The Safety Specialist will provide classroom and field-level safety-related training to employees to increase the safety skills of all employees. They will also conduct field investigations of all injuries or incidents (including near miss) related to employee safety, fleet, or general liability loss potentials.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assists the Safety Manager in implementing and managing the company’s Injury/Illness Prevention Program.
Conducts periodic loss analysis of WC, fleet or GL losses or other incidents to proactively identify incident trends and develop control strategies.
Conducts documented regular job site safety assessments evaluating the overall effectiveness and implementation of safety practices at the job site level.
Conducts incident investigations.
Assists in the development of safety training materials and provides safety-related orientation and training to employees.
Assists in collecting information and preparing filings for reporting workers’ compensation injuries.
Assists in maintaining safety records such as OSHA logs, incident reports, safety training database, and other supporting documentation.
Assists in developing site-specific safety plans and/or JHA’s.
Coordinates emergency response education/training to include CPR, AED, first aid, etc.
Serves as a safety resource to all departments and assists departments in complying with OSHA standards; provides consultation, guidance, and technical assistance on matters related to workplace safety and security.
This role will be day shift, 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday. Full benefits and competitive pay.
