ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Prepares patient for treatment to include assisting with undressing/dressing, and putting on and removing any supportive devices such as splints, slings and braces
- Assists with treatment as directed by the Physical Therapist or Physical Therapy Assistant as allowed in the State Practice Act
- Safeguards, motivates and assists patients in practicing exercises and functional activities under the direct supervision of a physical therapist
- Provides services to include heat/cold modalities, prevention of injury, bracing and taping as allowed in the State Practices Act
- Tests and measures to evaluate athletic injuries and administers exercises for reconditioning of athletes
- Communicates with supervisor and other health care interdisciplinary team members regarding patient’s response to treatment
- Keeps treatment areas clean, organized and unobstructed, cleans equipment after treatment
- Maintains adequate supply of inventory and organizes treatment area
- Changes linens when applicable between patients
- Treats all patients with respect and maintains confidentiality of patient information
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor Degree in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine or related field
- ATC – Maine State Board of Certification
- 1-3 years of clinical experience in the outpatient setting preferred
- Demonstrates effective communication methods either, written, verbal, non-verbal or electronic
- Listens to and acknowledges the concerns of patients and peers
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and other health care providers
- Makes effective decisions that reflect clear and logical thinking
- Demonstrates flexibility in examining new approaches in response to changing organizational objectives
- Identifies and works proactively to solve problems
- Prioritizes work activity based on department demands to complete assignments within designated timeframes with little to no supervision
- Demonstrates behavior that protects the safety of self/others of the department and equipment
- Continued education appropriate to the position to maintain a competent level of practice

Fulltime at 40 hours per week
