Description

Brunswick's Special Education Department is seeking a special education teacher for TREK, a Brunswick High School day treatment program. We are seeking a dynamic, creative special educator to contribute to this important program and to collaborate with the TREK team to establish structures that enhance student accountability and foster student academic and social emotional success. A successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, a willingness to use Restorative Practices, and a desire to implement education in a variety of ways including outdoor environments, and other community settings. Candidates should be able to build positive relationships with students, and collaborate with parents, special educators, service providers, case managers, and administrators as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Maine Department of Education Certification (282 Endorsement, Grades 7-12)
  • Maine Criminal History Records Check
  • Candidate will be able to:
    • Demonstrate the competence and flexibility necessary to create and implement academic and functional skills programming for students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs,
    • Willingness to pass our driver screening, and drive district vans for outings,
    • Develop and utilize curriculum aligned with standards, and inclusive of the principles of experiential learning,
    • Collect, and report on, academic and functional performance data
    • Complete required state special education paperwork associated with the provision of special education service,
    • Supervise, and collaborate with, educational technicians
    • Collaborate with fellow special educators in the area of program development and implementation.
