This position oversees a group of Project Managers ensuring that these individuals develop and execute projects that they have been assigned within Bath Iron Works policies and procedures. The overarching theme to this position is seeing that we safely perform high quality work. This includes but, is not limited to the development and execution of Safety Plans, Project Teams, Communications, Budgets, Schedules, Design and Labor resources to name a few. It is imperative for our success that the Manager focuses the team on the most important tasks and not allow noise level issues to distract us from our mission.

  • Oversees Capital Project Group in both developing and implementing complex projects.
  • Ensures that Personnel and Contracted work force conduct activities in accordance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Provides oversight and review of Capital Request and Design.
  • Ensures project development and execution is consistent with supporting processes and procedures.
  • Provides Technical input within field of expertise.
  • Reviews and approves expenditures within Delegation of Authority (DOA).
  • Supports Director in developing annual Capital Projects list.
  • Monitors Individual project performance to Cost & Schedule.
  • Maintains Capital Spend Plan.
  • Provides parameters for cost and schedule consistent with annual budget.
  • Provides periodic audits of work site to insure proper (Quality) execution of work.
  • Performs annual reviews for all personnel under their direction.
  • Complete daily time reporting ensuring correct charging is used.
  • Hold daily musters and pass downs to staff.
  • Work collaboratively with Management teams in Maintenance, Supply Chain and Finance to meet project objectives.

Required/Preferred Education/Training

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Project Management; or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Required/Preferred Experience

  • Five or more years in supervisory/management experience in a shipbuilding or construction environment preferred.
  • Working knowledge of facilities/maintenance and/or applications in a manufacturing/shipbuilding environment preferred.
  • Experience with construction contracting preferred.
  • Experience managing complex projects required.
  • Strong team-building skills preferred.
  • Excellent problem solving/decision making skills to include experience in conflict resolution required.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, knowledge of building codes and standard of construction preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with Scope Development, details scheduling, cost estimating and risk mitigation preferred.
