Social Worker

Cape Cod Hill School

Job Goal(s):

To maintain current knowledge and understanding of theory, methods, techniques, methodologies, and strategies within the field of social work. Provide direct services to students as appropriate. To provide coordination between school and home for students. To facilitate coordination of students and their families with other appropriate agencies.

Qualifications

  • Masters level, licensed social worker in the state of Maine
  • Knowledge and skills to practice direct therapy and casework services with students and their families

Certifications

  • Maine DOE Certification - CHRC (background check)
  • Maine State Social Work License
  • Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation

Performance Responsibilities

  • Conduct evaluations, as directed by the P.E.T. and Director(s) of Special Services, to include psychosocials, functional behavioral analysis evaluations, and risk assessments.
  • Participate as a P.E.T. member for students considered for the Emotional Disability classification, or other students for whom evaluation was assigned.
  • Provides direct service to students by the P.E.T. and Director(s).
  • Conduct groups around such topics as, (but not limited to) anger management, social skills, and cognitive mediation as directed by the P.E.T. and Director(s).
  • Participates in Manifest Determination P.E.T.’s and Section 504 meetings as directed by the Director(s) and 504 Coordinator. Serves as building 504 case manager.
  • Participates in mediations or due process hearings as directed by the Director(s) or the Department of Education.
  • Attends meetings and participates with district Crisis Team (as determined by the Superintendent of School and/or Director of Guidance).
  • Provides consultation to staff, primarily around emotional and/or behavioral issues.
  • Attends Special Service Department meetings as needed and typically alternates between an elementary and secondary staff meeting.

Education

  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in Elementary Education or related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
  • Masters Degree in related area preferred.

Experience

  • 2 yrs experience prefered

Working Schedule

  • Full Time - 190 days (School Year + 10 days)
  • Monday - Friday
  • 8:30am -3:42pm

Travel Requirements

  • Travel between schools or district buildings may be required at times.

Reports To: Building Principal

Terms of Employment: As determined annually by the District.

Evaluation: Completed annually by Building Principal

FLSA Status: Exempt
