The Managed Care Assistant performs administrative work as an assistant to the Managed Care Department to support the case management process and managed care programs.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enter case management and vendor referrals into the system.
  • Assign referrals to case managers.
  • Enter case management chargebacks into the system.
  • Handle faxes and incoming data for telephonic nurse case managers.
  • Use phone, e-mail, and fax to request information from provider’s offices.
  • Coordinate appointments and care coordination referrals in support of the case management process and cost containment efforts.
  • Responsible for administrative level support of MEMICs 24/7 injury triage program.
  • Responsible for processing of vendor case management invoices.
  • Enter data in support of telephonic nurse case managers and the managed care team.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • High school diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 1-2 years of customer service and/or administrative support experience within a fast-paced office environment required.
  • Experience in a clinical or medical setting is preferred.
  • Ability to learn multiple computer applications quickly and type with speed and accuracy is critical.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Prior experience in Workers’ Compensation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred.
