  • Position Summary
    • The CBO Reconciliation Accountant will prepare daily reconciliations of payments posted in Epic by the Payment Processing staff and SBO Customer Service Center to bank deposit transactions from multiple bank accounts. On a monthly basis, prepares month end reconciliations for the MaineHealth consolidated and individual entity level members. Works closely with those members that accept up-front payments to assist in the daily balancing of payments received to incorporate into the consolidated reconciliation. Prepares journal entries to transfer cash to the affiliate members’ accounts. Through generally accepted accounting principles and policies of Maine Medical Center, maintains control and accountability in the safeguarding of assets. Identifies and makes recommendations to further strengthen those controls. Other duties may be assigned relating to the Cash Management program.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with various hospital/practice personnel, third party payers, auditors and regulatory agencies.
    • Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when reviewing posting reports, bank statements and preparing detailed financial and statistical reports.
    • Ability to speak and write effectively; communicating clearly through work paper schedules, memoranda and discussions with management personnel.
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and accounting systems to maintain general ledgers and journals and prepare related statements and reports as normally required through completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, coupled with two to three years of previous experience. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and progressive experience in a computerized business environment. Experience in a health care environment is preferred.
    • Analytical skills to collect pertinent information necessary to prepare, reconcile and analyze financial statements and reports within Maine Medical Center, MaineHealth and contracted organizations.
