Job Summary:

The Clinical Director leads the transdisciplinary team in the professional delivery of brain injury rehabilitation services, neuropsychological services, and works as a member of the program’s management team. The Clinical Director is expected to:

  • Prepare findings, diagnostic impressions, diagnoses, and make recommendations.
  • Conduct individual and group therapy.
  • Authorize, design, and implement individualized person-centered therapeutic rehabilitation programs.
  • Provide consultation and instruction in rehabilitation techniques to team members, service recipients, family members, payors, and other stakeholders in an understandable and helpful way.
  • Oversee performance of staff and clinical care of patients in collaboration with the Program Manager.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Neuropsychologist with a Maine State psychologist license and satisfies one of the following criteria:
  • Board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology-American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABPP-ABCN)
  • Board eligible: meets the training and experience requirements for The American Board of Clinical Neuropsychology (ABCN) per their letter to that effect but has not taken the examinations.
  • Holds a Ph.D. in neuropsychology or Clinical psychology and has knowledge of neuroanatomy, neuropathology, and neuropsychology as demonstrated by formal course work (on transcripts) and/or American Psychological Association (APA) approved workshops (one hundred clock hours); and must have 3 years full-time equivalent experience in neuropsychology in a clinical setting, one year of was supervised. The supervised year must be made up of at least 1,500 clock hours, accumulated over no more than 3 calendar years.
  • Successful completion of a background check that meets Agency standards.
  • Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record and insurance that meets Agency standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of supervisory experience in a healthcare setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Coordinate implementation of treatment strategies developed by treatment team and ensure delivery of rehabilitative services.
  • Refer clients to appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Represent the Agency in all interactions with other members of the Goodwill community and with the public.
  • Openness to receiving and implementing feedback.
  • Lead weekly clinic team meetings with support from the Program Manager.
  • Obtain specialized medical/social history through interview or review of clients’ case records; select and administer assessment and evaluation instruments to determine service recipients’ capabilities and barriers in such areas as attention, concentration, orientation, memory, language, cognition, behavior, mental health.
  • Provide consultation and instruction in rehabilitation techniques to team members, clients, family members, payors, and other stakeholders in an understandable and helpful way.
  • Assist in policy creation needed for client care and general operations of the clinic setting.
  • Lead program development with the clinical setting – be the visionary of ‘what’s next’ in the field.
  • Produce accurate and timely clinical, billing, administrative and other documentation as required.
  • Assist in annual maintenance of CARF processes and the CARF audit every three years.
  • Direct team in selection of constructive activities suited to individual’s physical capacity, intelligence level, and interest to upgrade individual to maximum independence, prepare individual for return to school or employment, assist in restoration of functions, and aid in adjustment to disability.
  • Instruct, coordinate, and supervise professional and paraprofessional staff, interns, students, and others as assigned in areas including orientation, documentation, evaluation, and billable hours.
