About the Opportunity

The Khoury College of Computer Sciences seeks an energetic, self-starter to serve a growing population of graduate students in at dynamic and fast pasted university. The Graduate Student Services Coordinator at the Portland campus will provide professional support to the Assistant or Associate Director of Graduate Student Services in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences. This position will support all graduate program administrative activities including advising students on academic and curriculum/registration matters; serve as liaison between the Graduate School and all University offices that handle matters pertaining to graduate students; attend all relevant committee meetings. Maintain the graduate student database utilizing Salesforces, Banner, and Navigate. Prepare reports and analyses for the Director of Graduate Student Services, MS Program Directors, and the Graduate Faculty Committee.

Responsibilities:

Support Graduate School Activities: Advise a caseload of up to 300-400 master’s students in computing programs on course selection and planning, registration procedures, and college, campus and university resources. Monitor student performance in courses and serve as a liaison between students and faculty or other office to help support students who are struggling academically or personally. Organize special projects, such as the student social gatherings, student town hall meetings, and graduate advising workshops. Support the implementation of College/University policies and procedures through advising communications to students from the time of enrollment through graduation. Support the registration process for master’s students and work closely with the Director of Operations to process registration updates and forms. Provide support to the Assistant, Associate, and/or Directors of Student Services on overall student support strategies and implementation of new initiatives.

Liaison between the Graduate School and University Offices or Network Campus administration: Serve as liaison with OGS on visa matters—approving I-20 documentation, visa extensions, Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT); Liaison with Khoury Co-op coordinators or network career development advisors to verify & approve students for graduate co-op.

Graduate Student Services Special Projects: coordination and implement student services projects on the campus, which could include TA hiring, student club support, apprenticeship program, or student ambassador support.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 2-3 years of experience required, preferably in a higher education setting. Individual must have strong communication skills (verbal and written.), proven experience with spreadsheets and databases, experience working with a diverse student population a must. (Note: 80% of the Graduate program are foreign nationals.) must have experience working independently and as a member of a team.

Please note: this position is hybrid, with in-person presence required on the Portland, Maine campus.
