Job Summary
Bowdoin College seeks a Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) Systems & Data Analyst to partner with DAR and college-wide staff in the development, execution and education of strategic solutions to meet fundraising, engagement and regulatory reporting goals. Under the direction of the Director of Alumni and Development Information Systems, the core functions and responsibilities of this role will entail:
-Providing database and system analysis, configuration, development, support, data extraction and reporting utilizing Bowdoin’s DAR software application systems, data warehouses, and various analytical and reporting tools.
-Developing and performing proactive data enrichment processes to enhance data accuracy and integrity and executing large-scale data imports from a variety of sources as well as global data changes.
-Troubleshooting software functional and technical problems including researching vendor resources, logging cases and working with internal and external staff to solve.
-Defining data requirements and validating accuracy of campus system data integration and external software systems with DAR systems.
-Testing and implementing software upgrades and utilizing new functionality most effectively.
-Participating in the assessment, development and implementation of new strategic solutions as an application specialist.
-Providing ongoing staff system training and maintaining procedure documentation for primary responsibilities.
Education/Skills Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred. Solid understanding of file structure,
and relational database management concepts and design; strong data extraction, reporting, and data validation skills using various tools; thorough knowledge of MS Office especially Excel and Access; strong analytical and organizational skills with commitment to accuracy and detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; creative problem solving skills; ability to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions; results and deadline oriented; strong customer-service orientation; ability to work cooperatively with others in fast-paced environment and under pressure of deadlines and interruptions; sensitive to and accepting of confidentiality requirements.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
Minimum of 3 years of information systems data analyst experience, preferably in a sophisticated academic fundraising environment and preferably with the Raiser’s Edge enterprise system (Raiser’s Edge certified if possible); extensive experience with query, export and report-writing software, preferably Crystal Reports or Power BI; extensive experience requiring the use of Access and Excel; experience with accounting procedures; interest in and experience with training and working with people who have a wide range of computer skills.
Standard Work Days and Hours
Hours are primarily Monday through Friday; 8:30 am to 5:00 pm with occasional work after 5:00 pm or weekends. Some travel required. This is an exempt position requiring time commitment necessary to satisfactorily complete job requirements.
This position is on-site, at Bowdoin’s campus in Brunswick, ME. Following the onboarding period, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
Benefits and Pay: (FT)
- The salary range for this position is expected to be: $71,500 – $80,000.
