*POSITION SUMMARY: *

The Facility Maintenance Technician is responsible for monitoring the condition of the facility, equipment and grounds, and work to keep everything in working order, either by performing or arranging for maintenance; performs a variety of regular duties to support the managers and employees of the Health Center and make their jobs easier and more efficient.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitors the building and equipment to ensure that everything is in good working order, including the pneumatic and hydraulic equipment in the dental office.
  2. Maintains and repairs mechanical, heating, cooling, electrical, and plumbing issues within license requirements or arranges for an outside contractor to do the same.
  3. Performs building maintenance, inside and outside, such as patching, sanding, repairing and painting walls, ceilings, signage, trim, etc.
  4. Attends to the landscaping; shovels snow and salt sidewalks as needed.
  5. Repairs desks and chairs as needed.
  6. Sets up the education room by arranging furniture for events, as necessary
  7. Removes trash and destroys confidential items.
  8. Coordinates or obtains bids for various projects (i.e., landscape, HVAC, snow removal, etc.)
  9. Oversee operational functions of elevator and fire alarm system.
  10. Strong ability to coordinate priorities

NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel, including operation of a standard computer keyboard; reach with hands and arms and talk, see and hear. Eye hand coordination and manual dexterity required. The employee must be able to climb ladders, frequently lift/move up to 50 pounds, bend, stoop, kneel, stretch or crouch, and lift arms over head for prolonged periods of time. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed primarily in an office setting. Noise level is usually quiet.

QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED FOR POSITION:

Experience and Skill Requirements: The following experience and skills are considered essential:

  • At least five years of experience in building and grounds maintenance required.
  • At least three years of experience as a computer technician preferred.
  • 3 years experience preferred in areas such as HVAC, generators, plumbing and electric preferred.
  • Computer experience using Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office software products required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, vendors, and the public verbally and through email communication
  • Ability to communicate and present information.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.

Education Requirements: The following education requirements are considered essential:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Training in building and grounds maintenance and/or computer technician training, highly preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical and plumbing, and heating and cooling systems, required.
  • Driver's license and reliable transportation.
