Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biomedical Sciences in the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine in Biddeford, ME. Research focuses on protein-protein interactions and neuronal cell signaling underlying chronic pain and the identification of new drug targets, with an emphasis on biochemical and proteomic approaches. Emphasis on collaborative laboratory research, including performance of research techniques and analysis and upholding the highest standards of research integrity and rigor.

Responsibilities

  • Performing experiments and managing an independent research project; techniques may include:
    • tissue dissection, protein isolation and cellular sub-fractionation.
    • phospho-protein enrichment, affinity purification for mass spectrometry.
    • 1D/2D PAGE and Western blotting.
    • preparation of samples for liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.
    • analysis of proteomic datasets (pathway enrichment, gene ontogeny enrichment analysis, use of online tools.
    • two-photon and confocal microscopy.
    • optogenetics/chemogenetics.
    • in vitro and in vivo transfections (viral vectors).
    • mRNA/protein isolation, basic cloning techniques .
    • RT-PCR (quantitative and single cell).

Qualifications

A Ph.D. in biochemistry, neuroscience or a related life sciences field, and 0-3 years of postdoctoral experience. Experience in protein biochemistry, LC-MS, MALDI and software tools for proteomics dataset analysis is highly desirable. Experience in the neurobiology of pain is advantageous but not required.
