Job Summary: The Accountant will become an engaged Business Office team member
while completing key job functions. Responsibilities also include contributing data and working
collaboratively with the Controller and Chief Financial Officer to analyze trends, costs, and
revenues.
Essential Duties:
- Ensure that all business is conducted in an ethical and professional and timely manner.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the CPSI, EHS and AOD systems.
- Maintain internal controls.
- Monthly bank statement reconciliation on all bank accounts.
- Complete quarterly financial reports for Jefferson Cary Foundation.
- Review AP vendor statements on a weekly basis.
- Assists Controller in monthly fiscal reviews (including but not limited to: patient days, purchased services, prepaid insurance, prepaid expenses, capital equipment/depreciation, credit card statement, petty cash, postage, sales tax, FELP, FSA/DCA).
- Assists Controller with month end reporting (including but not limited to: MHA, MHDO, QHR, Valify, statistics)
- Assists Controller with daily and month end closings.
- Assists Controller in preparation of annual cost reports.
- Assists Controller with annual budget packet preparation and hospital wide hospital budget.
- Assists Controller in preparation of annual audit.
- Assists Controller in annual charge master analysis and updates.
- Assists Controller with maintaining and operating a cost accounting system.
- Complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations
Other Responsibilities:
- Completes work within designated time.
- Demonstrates the ability to work independently and is accountable for own actions.
- Shows initiative and follow-through.
- Demonstrates productivity at work (makes good use of down time).
Requirements
Availability Requirements:
- Must be able to work during the regular work week (Monday-Friday).
- Must be flexible to work occasional evenings and weekends.
Education, Skills, Experience Requirements:
- Must be able to organize, prioritize work and meet deadlines.
- Must have adequate interpersonal, writing and telephone skills.
- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in the area of Accounting or Business is preferred.
- A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
- High degree of organizational and interpersonal skills
Organizational requirements:
- Reports to work on time and as scheduled.
- Wears identification while on duty.
- Uses computerized punch time system correctly.
- Adheres to dress code, appearance is neat and tidy.
- Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
- Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
- Maintains regulatory requirements (i.e. licensing, certification), if applicable.
- Attends a minimum of 75% of staff meetings annually, reviews staff meetings minutes of missed meetings.
- Parks in designated employee areas, allowing accessible parking for the elderly, ill and visitors.
- Does not exceed 3% of unscheduled absences.
