Westbrook School Department is seeking a part-time, dynamic CDL-B instructor at the Westbrook Regional Vocational Center for the 2025-26 school year.

About the School
Westbrook Regional Vocational Center (WRVC) is a collaborative Career and Technical Education (CTE) school of up to 400 learners and 25 staff. Our 15 programs serve more than 10 sending schools and offer cutting-edge, rigorous, and relevant CTE learning that prepares students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers. CTE programs at WRVC blend content with real-world applications and live work-based learning to prepare students for college and career pathways. Students work in collaborative teams to develop solutions to authentic problems and learn how to implement protocols and procedures in the classroom and the field. Qualifications:
- Valid State of Maine CDL-B License
- CDL Instructor credentials (or availability to obtain an instructor’s license)
- Successful experience in the transportation industry, particularly in a supervisory or instructor role
- Verification of seven (7) years of career experience in subject area, or five (5) years verification of career experience with an Associate Degree, or three (3) years verification of career experience with a Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
- Willingness to complete State of Maine certification requirements, including fingerprinting and background check.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster an environment where all students feel safe, supported, cared about, and included.
- Deliver interactive lessons that equip high school students with essential job entry skills for the transportation sector.
- Implement assessments to evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes.
- Attend Individualized Education Plan (IEP), Multilingual (ML), and 504 meetings as necessary to ensure students are supported and are successful.
- Develop and refine the CDL curriculum aligned with industry standards, ensuring measurable student achievement.
- Coordinate real-world projects and activities to immerse students in practical CDL training experiences.
- Maintain open lines of communication with parents/caregivers, keeping them informed and involved in their child’s educational journey.
- Promote a culture of safety by ensuring a clean, hazard-free environment and well-maintained equipment.
- Conduct interviews to assess student readiness and enthusiasm, fostering motivation and lifelong learning.
- Provide tailored guidance and connect students to job resources and industry networks.
- Stay updated on licensing regulations and ensure program compliance.
- Manage program budget and make informed recommendations for equipment and resources.
- Build relationships with local businesses to enhance learning opportunities and industry collaboration.
