Nest is a gift + home décor shop rooted in global inspiration + Maine charm. As a downtown cornerstone for 25+ years, it’s entering a customer-focused next chapter under new ownership. We’re looking for a dynamic Store Manager to lead our team + daily operations.
Nest is a fun, upbeat, community-centered shop where great energy + strong operations go hand in hand. Our team loves what we do, & our goal is simple: every person who walks through our doors should feel welcomed, & happy they stopped in.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys running a tight operation, guiding a diverse team, & making sure details behind the scenes support a great experience on the floor.
You’ve managed a business or retail environment before, & understand that successful shops run on both heart + systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily rhythm of the shop + keep operations running smoothly.
- Ensure every customer receives a warm, thoughtful, professional experience.
- Care for our team as thoughtfully as we care for our customers — creating a workplace where employees feel respected, supported, + proud to be part of the shop.
- Confidently use POS, retail, & business systems.
- Maintain strong visual merchandising + brand standards.
- Manage inventory buying + stock control.
- Anticipate needs + solve problems before they become problems.
- Improve processes + systems when something isn’t working.
- Create schedules + manage a team of 20.
- Hire, onboard, train, + develop team members.
- Track retail metrics including sales, labor, + inventory accuracy.
- Use sales data to inform operational decisions.
Great leadership at Nest means developing an environment where employees feel empowered to do their best work.
This role requires stepping beyond the register to lead strategically, strengthen systems, & guide the overall customer experience.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of experience in business operations + administration, small business leadership, or retail management.
- Success managing + developing people.
- Strong operational + organizational instincts.
- Comfortable + confident with technology + retail systems.
- Microsoft Co-Pilot Suite expertise required
- Lightspeed, Shopify, e-commerce, & social media platforms helpful, but not required.
- Calm, patient, steady leadership style + solutions-oriented mindset.
- Self-motivated w/ strong initiative, while also able to take direction + collaborate.
- Must be available to manage on weekends.
This role is best suited for someone who has previously managed a business or retail operation, & is comfortable owning both team leadership + day-to-day business performance.
Compensation:
- Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)
- Performance bonus potential
- Three weeks paid time off (PTO)
- Generous employee discount
- Employer sponsored healthcare + 401k
If you love leading teams, creating an upbeat, friendly shop environment where customers feel genuinely cared for, improving process, & being highly organized is your jam, we’d love to hear from you.
