ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Post assigned insurance payments and denials in a timely and accurate manner
- Post patient payments in a timely and accurate manner
- Bring trends to Supervisor
- Meet daily posting average targets
- Balance daily individual batches of posted payments
- Distribute all posted Explanation of Benefits to the appropriate area
- Review and interpret explanation of benefits (EOB) from insurance carriers to post appropriate payment, adjustment, and denial codes.
- Identify incomplete information necessary to post remittance and take the necessary steps to resolve questions, inconsistencies, or missing data.
- Ensure electronic deposits match remit totals.
- While processing write-offs and adjustments, investigate unusual contractual adjustments. Communicate problematic trends to the Revenue Cycle Manager.
- Complete electronic posting reconciliations and conduct reviews of entries to proactively resolve any errors.
- Ensure all pending and variance items are resolved within designated time frames.
- Fluently work in EMR to perform daily job duties
- Retrieves EOB (Explanation of benefits) from insurances when necessary
- Responsible for keeping all patient details and information orderly, confidential, current and HIPAA compliant at all times
- Must be knowledgeable in Patient Rights and Responsibilities
- Other duties as assigned by leadership
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- High School diploma or GED required
- One to three years of Medical Billing Office experience preferred
- Good problem resolution skills
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of patient information in accordance with company policy & procedure, and HIPAA regulations.
- Organization, time management and prioritization abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) is required as well as the ability to quickly learn and retain knowledge of how to use the electronic medical record.
- Proficiency with Windows based computer applications
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with team members, including cross coverage to achieve the overall objectives of the department and organization

- Ability and willingness to provide excellent customer service to patients, InterMed colleagues and vendors
