Cary Medical Center has an exciting opportunity for an LPN/Physician Office Nurse to join our Oncology team. The successful applicant will be responsible for nursing care for Physician Office patients at the Jefferson Cary Cancer Center in a safe, efficient, and compassionate manner. The Cancer Center Physician Office Nurse promotes patient advocacy and collaborates with the Cancer Center team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery. This position will be responsible for the patients of the practice, ensuring smooth daily operations. This individual will screen patient calls to the providers, assist providers with procedures and perform duties as designated. Performs all assigned duties with emphasis on patient safety and satisfaction, accuracy, confidentiality and professionalism.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Administer care according to established nursing standards and hospital policy.
2. Administer injections, chemotherapy drugs, blood transfusions, hydration and other medications as ordered by physician; all according to current protocol/standards.
3. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in safe handling and disposal of all drugs, including chemotherapy/ biotherapy agents.
4. Maintain a working knowledge of chemotherapy drugs and associated side effects.
5. Demonstrate knowledge in the principles of chemotherapy/biotherapy administration.
6. Demonstrate knowledge and skill in IV Therapy administration and complications.

1. Core hours are generally 0700-1630 Monday – Friday.2. Depending on scheduling and/or staffing needs, may need to work beyond the core hours (prior to 0730, beyond 1630).3. Depending on scheduling and/or staffing needs, may need to work nights, weekends and holidays.
