Full job description Position Purpose
The School Social Worker will assist with mental and behavioral health concerns, treatment plans, positive behavioral support, attendance concerns, and academic and classroom support. This position is located at the Governor Fairfield School (25%), and the CK Burns School (75%) working with students grades K-5.

Essential Functions
Consult with teachers, parents and administrators.
Lead individual and group counseling as well as provide home visits.
Provide support for students that utilize and access individualized treatment plans
Provide supervision for staff working with students in order to support mental and behavioral health needs
The Social Worker will work with general and special education students and their families to resolve social, emotional and behavioral problems.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities
- Knowledge of Social Work principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. as well as proven behavior management methods
- Experience with trauma
- Experience working with challenging situations
- Experience working with children with behavioral challenges
- Team player
- Flexible
- Highly effective communication skills
Additional Duties
- Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

Equipment
- Uses standard office equipment such as personal computers, printer, copy and fax machines, and telephone.

Travel Requirements
- This position is at Young Elementary School. Travel to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.

Qualifications Profile
Certification/License: LCSW
