Description

Are you a current college student aspiring for a career in the mental healthcare field?

Kennebec Behavioral Health, named one of Maine’s Best Places to work in 2021, 2022 and 2023, is looking for an intern to join their Clubhouse teams in Capitol Clubhouse (Augusta), Looking Ahead Clubhouse (Lewiston), Village Clubhouse (Topsham) and High Hopes Clubhouse (Waterville)

Who we are: Our intentional working community is a non-clinical therapy-through-work program that focuses on helping adults with mental illness discover or re-discover their passions and interests. We assist people in living vocationally meaningful and socially satisfying lives by returning to work and school, living independently, and developing a social support network. In this collaborative, restorative environment, members gain access to opportunities to rejoin the worlds of friendships, family, community, employment and education, and to the services and support they may need.

Who you are: You are a current college student and a kind, energetic, positive human who thrives in motivating other humans. You have organizational, written and verbal communication skills. You’re able to work as part of a team as well as independently in an upbeat and dynamic environment. You believe recovery for people with mental illness is possible and you believe in the power of community. You’re skilled at creating and implementing structure. You’re a self-starter and a creative thinker. You have an encouraging demeanor and can maintain a high level of energy and focus. You have outstanding interpersonal skills. You like to have fun!

What you’ll do as an Intern: You’ll learn about the Clubhouse Model of Psychiatric Rehabilitation and gain lifelong skills to build a foundation for our career in mental healthcare. You’ll have generalist roles and share employment, community support, evening/weekend/holiday rotations, and unit responsibilities with other coordinators. You’ll actively work to keep Clubhouse members engaged in all aspects of Clubhouse operations. You’ll complete work with members, not for members. You’ll assist members in developing vocational, educational, wellness, and socialization goals and objectives.
