The MSO Manager develops and monitors the MSO budget and makes appropriate recommendations; champions interdepartmental problem solving to ensure all clinical teams and medical staff members are appropriately credentialled, enrolled, privileged, licensed and evaluated; and ensures appropriate departmental policy development and adherence.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Optimize the efficacy of our medical staff office using innovative, state-of-the art provider data management tools.
  • Oversee and guide credentialing and privileging processes.
  • Optimize and execute the peer review process for General Medical Staff and ASC Medical Staff.
  • Oversee physician and NPPA onboarding programs for office-based and ASC Medical Staff.
  • Establish and operationalize protocols and systems for tracking providers’ continuing medical education activity.
  • Oversee accreditation and regulatory compliance activities related to the medical staff.
  • Develop and maintain medical staff governance documents and policies and procedures.
  • Oversee the primary source credentialing process to verify physicians and NPPAs education, training, licensure, board certification, references, insurance, etc.
  • Oversee the Privileging process for physicians and providers in the ASC.
  • Oversee physician and NPPA enrollment with government (e.g., Medicare and Medicaid) and/or commercial (e.g., Cigna, UnitedHealthcare) health plans.
  • Oversee and guide quality assurance activities including the Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE) process.
  • Lead a team of ASC and Practice Based-Credentialling Specialists.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with external contracted entities and vendors.

      • Coordinate and monitor staffing levels and labor efficiency.
      • Approver for staff payroll biweekly in accordance with payroll department guidelines and schedule.
      • Mentors and counsels’ staff to include initiating Performance Improvement plans.
      • Works with the Compliance and Human Resources teams to assure compliance with State, Federal and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requirements for staff.

      • Leads Lean Six Sigma initiatives for the department to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
      • Fosters intra-departmental support and collaboration between all sites.

      • Develop and maintain an open and effective line of communication with employees.
      • Communication
        • Works in partnership with the clinical teams, practice leadership, and senior leadership teams.
        • Fosters strong working relationships with all levels of the organization to facilitate effective communication and to connect front line staff’s daily priorities to the organization’s strategic goals.

      • Strategic Planning and Program Coordination
        • Assess current state of department with relation to existing InterMed goals and plans.
        • Develops proactive plans to ensure InterMed’s positioning as a leader in healthcare in alignment with company KPIs.
        • Monitors budgets to identify potential financial overruns and variances; makes appropriate recommendations to alleviate financial implications.
        • Champions interdepartmental problem solving.
        • Ensures appropriate departmental policy development and adherence.
      • Confidentiality
        • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines. Maintain confidentiality related to financial, or other sensitive materials and information in printed, electronic, or verbal form, which may jeopardize the privacy of patients and/or employees. Accesses and uses the minimum necessary patient identifiable information to perform job responsibilities and duties and only for authorized purposes.
      • Maintains strict confidentiality in alignment with HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability) guidelines and InterMed policies.

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

      • Education:
        • Bachelor’s degree required.
      • Experience:
        • 3-5 years of medical staff credentialing experience preferred.
        • 3 years of leadership/supervisory experience preferred.
        • Experience and subject matter expertise of CredentialStream platform for provider lifecycle management and data verification.
        • Experience managing a team, organizing workflow, ensuring that employees understand their duties/delegated tasks, providing coaching and constructive feedback.
      • License/Certifications:
        • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist preferred.
      • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.
      • Knowledge of medical staff affairs operational process.
      • Knowledge of medical credentialing and privileging procedures and standards.
      • Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements.
      • Working knowledge of clinical and/or hospital operations and procedures.
      • Knowledge of clinical privilege criteria development.
      • Knowledge of medical staff policies, regulations, and bylaws and the legal environment within which they operate.
      • Knowledge of performance improvement techniques.
      • Information research skills.
      • Ability to analyze, interpret, and draw inferences from research findings, and prepare reports.
      • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
      • Knowledge of project management principles, practices, techniques, and tools.
      • Database management skills including query and report generation.
      • Ability to make sound administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
      • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and delegate tasks to achieve departmental goals.
