Salary Range:
$91,782 - $109,561
SUMMARY
: To use leadership, supervisory and administrative skills to provide sound educational programs for students who require English language learner services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
Keeps informed of all legal requirements governing ELL.
Assists in the adaptation of school policies to include ELL needs.
Assists with the planning and implementation of professional development.
Provides support to staff in identifying classroom best practices related to serving ELL students.
Collects and analyzes student achievement data on a regular basis to ensure appropriate programming for students
Collects appropriate data related to local, state and federal requirements.
Reviews and interprets data for assessing student and program success. Assists with reviews of student Individual Language Acquisition Plans (ILAP)
Evaluates on an ongoing basis, the ELL curriculum, procedures, and individual students' needs and achievements.
Responsible for compiling and maintaining all reports, records, etc. legally required and useful.
Interprets the objectives and programs of ELL services to staff and the public.
Assists with the scheduling of staff assignments.
Evaluates staff.
Maintains an ongoing presence in all of the schools.
Works with all school department staff to provide effective ongoing communication and collaboration.
Oversees the ELL student assessment process (ACCESS for ELLs) and facilitates necessary accommodations and (Alternate ACCESS) alternatives.
Assists with the development of and monitoring of summer school programs.
Monitors the special education evaluation process for ELL students.
Implements procedures for screening, placement, assignment, and re-appraisal of students with regard to the ELL services program.
Consults with parents of students enrolled in the program.
Provides programs to supplement regular classroom instruction.
Implements procedures for purchasing ELL books and supplies.
Attends special events held to recognize student achievement, connect with the community, and school-sponsored activities
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervises employees in the ELL Department. Assists with the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Lewiston Public Schools policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Master's degree or equivalent in a related field. Three years of successful experience in teaching English language learners.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Valid teaching certificate with 660 ESL endorsement and supervisors approval and
045 Assistant Building Administrator endorsement
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, parents, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must be able to transport between school buildings, districts and cities. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all District requirements and School Committee policies.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The noise level in this position varies. When visiting a building the noise level will be loud, in the office, quiet and at meetings, moderate.
