Full job description SUMMARY: The delivery driver position primary responsibility is to assist with the movement of food through the district. Coordinates the delivery of supplies from central storage locations to schools, maintains the food storage areas, and delivers prepared meals to locations through the district.
SALARY: $19.18/hr - $21.11/hr
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES.
  • Responsible for the sanitary transportation of meals to satellite schools.
  • Receives and transports USDA commodities, food, and supplies to all schools.
  • Accountable for accurate delivery, unloading, and maintaining storage of U.S.D.A. commodity shipments/Nutrition Program supplies.
  • Performs daily pick-up of funds from all schools and transporting deposits to the designated location.
  • Maintains USDA storerooms and freezers for the Nutrition Program.
  • Provides general maintenance of delivery truck with assistance from the Maintenance team.
  • Maintains, tests, and delivers grills to schools as needed.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work cooperatively with others.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Must be proficient in the English language and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, SDS sheets, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.


REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Ability to pass a district written and physical test.
Must have basic computer skills and the ability to access emails and other employee resources for the job.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and School Committee policies.
Must possess valid State of Maine driver’s license with a clean driving record.

The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms such as to operate vibrating machinery. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee frequently must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and reach forward. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp tools and climbs onto ladders. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than the average person while performing the duties of this job.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as cases. Occasionally the employee will lift and/or move up to 90 pounds such as furniture and equipment. The employee will sometimes push/pull items such as equipment. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works indoors and will occasionally work outdoors. The employee will work near or with moving mechanical equipment. The employee may occasionally work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as petroleum products, degreasers, sprays and non-household dust. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally will work in a loud area.
