Join our dynamic sales team in the geospatial industry! We’re looking for a driven individual ready to take their sales experience to the next level by building and maintaining relationships with exhibitors, sponsors, and advertisers for Geo Week and Geo Week News. This role offers meaningful growth opportunities for those looking to expand their skills and advance their sales career.

In this primarily outbound telephone sales role, you’ll use creative strategies to attract and secure new exhibitors. As an Account Executive, you will qualify and solicit prospective exhibitors, secure sponsorships and digital advertising sales, communicate sales contracts, and ensure on-site support as needed. This role is also responsible for utilizing Salesforce to track transactions, opportunities, and manage detailed notes for effective client relationship building.

This role requires strong independent judgment to plan, prioritize, and organize workloads while staying up-to-date with current market trends and industry news. Successful candidates must also actively collaborate with the entire team to drive our collective success.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities:

  • Meet and/or exceed sales goals through sales of exhibit space, digital advertising, and ancillary/sponsorships.
  • Provide consistent follow up and superior customer service by maintaining strong business relationships with customers.
  • Stay informed on current market trends and sales developments, identifying and qualifying new prospects to drive product growth.
  • Track sales for exhibit space, digital advertising, sponsorships, account changes and data entry into Salesforce.
  • Collaborate closely with the rest of the sales team, marketing team, editorial departments, and other central teams to achieve shared goals.
  • Capture and communicate customer needs to the broader the team as appropriate.
  • Attend industry events and competitive gatherings to expand market knowledge and network with key stakeholders.
  • Leverage all available sales channels—phone, email, social media, etc.—to engage with prospects and customers consistently and effectively.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience, primarily in a sales role. Experience as a Sales Coordinator, in customer service, or in an administrative sales support role is also encouraged to apply.
  • Competency in use of customer sales management systems (e.g., Salesforce) and business-related applications (e.g. MS Office).
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Expertise in sales prospecting and lead qualification.
  • Demonstrated ability in building and managing relationships.
  • Skilled in strategic selling & closing strategies with the ability to articulate value propositions.
  • Excellent listening and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of marketing tools, with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to set and achieve ambitious goals.

Work Environment: Diversified Communications offers the flexibility to work remotely and enjoy a hybrid schedule, working in the office 2 days per week. While this position reports into our office located in Portland, Maine, we are open to considering fully remote applicants. Travel is required in this position.
