The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the Position of Athletic Coach.
TITLE: Middle School Field Hockey Head Coach
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful coaching experience preferred
- CPR, AFEP Coaching Principles and Sport First Aid Courses or equivalent. (May take within the first year as a coach
- At least 20 years of age.
- High School diploma
- Must be approved by the Oxford Hills School District
- Must sign a statement stating that he/she has read and understands and agrees to comply with all MPA By-Laws, policies and Code of Ethics.
REPORTS TO: Athletic Director
JOB GOAL: To help each participating student achieve a high level of skill, an appreciation for the values of discipline and sportsmanship and an increased level of self-esteem.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the District's mission and goals.
- Coaches individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
- Plans and schedules a regular program of practice in season.
- Works closely with the Athletic Director in scheduling intramural and/or interscholastic contests.
- Recommends purchase of equipment, supplies and uniform, as appropriate.
- Maintains necessary attendance forms, insurance records and similar paperwork.
- Oversees the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Establishes performance criteria for eligibility in interscholastic competition in his/her sport.
- Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
- Works closely with middle school, junior varsity and freshman programs, as appropriate and/or makes suggestions that benefit athletes at all times.
- Attends lectures, rules interpretations and clinics to keep abreast of changes and methods that would improve the program.
- Meets with parents, the news media, booster groups and youth organizations to improve public relations and encourages support for the sport and other athletic activities.
- Carries out procedures for the prevention, care and treatment of athletic injuries.
- Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Athletic Director.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: One year position. See current Agreement Between the MSAD#17 Board of Directors and the Oxford Hills Education Association.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Athletic Director.
