Summary

For a limited time Southern Maine Healthcare is offering a $500.00 sign on bonus for Companion Sitters*

*Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time Companion/Sitter position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible. Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.

Maine Medical Center Biddeford/Sanford is seeking a Companion Sitter to join the team.

This uniquely fulfilling position supports the unit and staff by providing observational support for patients that need eyes on support, as well as, support to patients through hands-off direct, one on one engagement.

Provide conversation, listen, play games, complete puzzles, etc. to support patients overall sense of well-being when they need it most, by being present with them.

8 hour shifts

Position Summary

Under the supervision of a registered nurse, and according to the established policies and procedures, the companion will provide service duties to patients as needed, requirements varying from assignment to assignment.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High school graduate preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: N/A (CNA, Psychiatric Technician, Medical Assistant desirable).
  3. Experience: Experience in the field of healthcare helpful but not required.
  4. Excellent communication skills required.
  5. Ability to read, write and complete institutional training.
  6. Requires interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information and maintain continuous relationships with patients, visitors and other SMHC employees.
