Dorothea Dix Psychiatric Center is a 51-bed, adult psychiatric hospital. DDPC's mission is to help individuals with severe and persistent mental illness by providing respectful, compassionate, and effective psychiatric treatment in the least restrictive, safest and most therapeutic environment. DDPC serves both civil and forensic patients and maintains a small outpatient clinic. We are looking for competent, collaborative, dedicated and adaptable clinicians to join our team.

DDPC is located in the beautiful and historic community of Bangor, Maine. This central Maine community is poised for dynamic growth and is very well located for access to Maine's renowned coastline, its forest and lake regions, and its mountains. It is also home to the four day KahBang Music and Arts Festival, the Bangor Symphony Orchestra, The Peobscot Theatre Company, and the American Folk Festival. Bangor is approximately on hour away from Acadia National Park, one of the nation's top ten most frequently visited National Parks.

 

Job Duties

 This is professional services work involving psychological assessment and psychotherapy in an inpatient setting. The responsibilities of this position include conducting assessments, delivering psychotherapy and psycho-education, and serving as a clinical lead for the therapeuticservice needs of inpatients and outpatients. Clinical supervision may be exercised over interns, students and subordinate clinical staff to ensure treatment is appropriate, timely and based on recognized standards.

Requirements

A Doctoral Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) or closely allied field and one year of supervised clinical experience or internship. Applicant must be licensed or license eligible as a Psychologist in the State of Maine
