Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Summary:

The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the safe operation of physical plant equipment. Patching and Painting and small construction projects. The position completes corrective maintenance work requests throughout the facilities and performs preventative maintenance on equipment throughout the facilities. The maintenance mechanic will also assist the other trades on a daily basis or during major projects. The incumbent may have access to highly confidential patient, employee, and information, and must handle and protect the information in accordance with hospital and system policies, HIPAA requirements and the highest level of ethical standards. The incumbent is responsible for reporting all security events, potential events, or other security risks to the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Reports directly to Northern Light Health Maintenance supervisor and communicates with other trades for technical assistance, ordering supplies, etc.
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of direct supervision.

  • Operate and maintain various mechanical equipment including air handling equipment, air compressors, vacuum pumps, Medical gas, elevators, air conditioners and pumps
  • Carpentry work including but not limited to door installation/repairs, window installation/repairs, ceiling tile replacement, building and installing shelves, cabinets, etc.
  • Operation and maintenance of various heating equipment throughout the Northern Light Health Properties
  • Responsible for repairs in off-site buildings
  • performs piping and plumbing repairs
  • Install and remove window A/C units
  • Maintain safety equipment per Supervisors direction
  • Must be able to work from blueprints and specifications
  • Build and install equipment using material such as wood, Sheet rock, metal studs, plastics, glass, metal, masonry and masonry units, but not limited to these materials
  • Office furniture repair
  • Roof repairs as required
  • Patch and Paint interior and exterior walls, Conduct fire drills
  • Minor demolition and construction
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must be able to perform scheduled tasks on off shifts
  • Provide on call coverage for Northern Light Health properties nights, weekends and holidays, Provide assistance to other shops as required
  • Computer Skills
  • Completes regular scheduled inspections of mechanical and electrical equipment/ spaces to observe and report operating conditions
  • Responsible for scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and document activities with appropriate records.
  • Attends all mandatory hospital and departmental education programs.
  • Attends scheduled maintenance training programs.
  • Monitor Grounds for general appearance and picking up trash as necessary.
  • May be tasked with removing small nuisance animals and making keys.

Education

  • Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)
