Assists the Pharmacists by filling prescriptions for medications for oral, rectal, topical and injectable use. Supports pharmacological services by stocking, assembling, and distributing medications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Assists the Pharmacist in providing medication, patient drug information and pharmaceutical services to patients.
2. Rotate through all work areas of pharmacy.
2. Repacking bulk medications.
3. Unit dosing.
4. Transport medications, restock drug delivery devices.
5. Screen telephone calls.
6. Maintains inventory of supplies and reorders them accordingly.
7. Aids in the training of Pharmacy Technician students or new employees.
8. Prepares select reports as needed/directed.
9. Receives and stores incoming deliveries of medication and supplies.
10. Participates in departmental and organizational performance improvement and CQI activities.
11. Performs all aspects of medication dispensing in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
12. Maintains the Pharmacy Department in a clean and orderly manner.
13. Demonstrates ability to calculate figures and amounts relating to dosage calculations when filling various orders and prescriptions.
14. Performs assigned quality control activities on schedule.
15. Maintains professional, helpful and courteous relationships within the department and with other departments.
16. Shows the ability to deal with people in a manner which shows sensitivity, tact, and professionalism.
17. Ability to function as a team player.
18. Keeps patient safety on the forefront at all times.
19. Performs other duties as assigned.
