Dedicated Substitute – Specialized Programs
Portland Public Schools is seeking dedicated substitutes to provide coverage in our specialized programs. These programs are located in most schools across the district, and serve students with significant needs related to intellectual disabilities, autism, and social-emotional challenges. Several different programs will train subs, so that on a given day, they can be assigned based on staff absences. Responsibilities include supporting the daily functions of the classroom and working with students individually or in small groups.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping every student reach his or her full potential. We welcome both applicants who have previously worked in these types of programs, as well as those who are newer to the field and looking to gain more experience.
Position Details:
· Daily rate is $175 for a full day, working 5 days per week
· 1 paid sick day per month is accrued and retained until needed
· $500 bonus per month intended to help with individual healthcare costs
Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience working with students in similar programs
· College degree (Associate or Bachelor’s)
· Maine DOE ed tech or teacher certification
