Our Hope House is looking for Shelter Navigators! As a Shelter Navigator (formerly called "Campus Aide"), you'll play a crucial role on our team in helping to ensure safe operations while serving people experiencing homelessness. You’ll provide professional supervision to clients while treating all clients, staff, visitors and volunteers with the utmost dignity and respect. You’ll also support the Case Manager, stock supplies, ensure facility cleanliness tasks are completed and monitor clients and volunteers in their work. Schedule: Full-Time, Tuesday-Saturday, 2-10:30pm (Sunday + Monday OFF) (NOTE: Shift differentials available for the evening portion of this shift)

Highlights of the position:

  • Provides professional supervision to clients regarding personal hygiene and health concerns, especially regarding public health issues, by demonstrating empathy and appropriate guidance.
  • Ensures open lines of communication with other staff members at all times to ensure safe and effective operations.
  • Maintains awareness of the condition and cleanliness of building, notifying supervisor of poor conditions or repairs needed. Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the building to reduce public health risks.
  • Is flexible in adapting to the needs of the clinic and shelter, providing assistance and support as needed.
  • Participates in the maintenance of the donor log.
  • Adheres to the "Shelter Bill of Rights."
  • Treats all staff, clients, visitors, and volunteers with dignity and respect, maintaining professional boundaries at all times.
  • Collaborates within teams to ensure Hope House services are patient-centered and mission-focused. Continuously looks to seek improvement and implement best practices.

Education and Experience:

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Having a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and/or an appropriate length of driving experience for insurance purposes is preferred. Any concerns raised by the results of a driving record check will be subject to an individualized review to determine whether the infraction is relevant to the individual’s ability to perform the responsibilities of the position, in accordance with PCHC’s Automobile Safety and Background Check policy.
  • Experience and/or education in mental health or Chemical Dependency appropriate to the age of clients is preferred.
  • Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or America Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire.
