For a limited time MaineHealth is offering up to a $10,000 sign on for Registered Nurses with 1-2 years of experience and $20,000 for experienced Registered Nurses with greater than 2 years of experience!
- Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.

Maine Medical Center is currently seeking a Poison Information Specialist for the Northern New England Poison Center. This team-focused, intellectually challenging position requires a "can do" problem-solving attitude. On-the-job training and national exam required (1-3 years after hire). The incumbent must pass the American Association Poison Control Centers (AAPCC) Certification Exam within two testing periods. We are accepting new graduates for this position, and will assist with certification. Maine Medical Center is the states largest Medical Center and the flagship facility for MaineHealth.
This is a 40-hour role with rotating shifts including day, evening, night, weekends and holidays - while utilizing the self scheduling model. This position requires strong problem-solving skills, and due to the call center environment requires sitting and typing for extended periods. The Poison Info Specialist Nurse is in a call center setting and is based in Portland, Maine.
Summary:
The Poison Information Specialist RN role manages poison exposures and answers poison and drug information questions through the Poison Center hotline.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
- License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Certification from the American Association Poison Control Center to be obtained within two testing periods.
- Experience: Experience with or the ability to learn Micromedex and Toxicall databases preferred.
