Job Description
Special Knowledge / Skills: The ability to create and maintain positive relations with students, school personnel, parents, and citizens, and to collaborate with the appropriate stakeholders to maintain high quality of services.
Job Responsibilities:
A Math Coach is a certified teacher who works full time to improve student learning through supporting teachers and other staff members to better instructional practices in the classroom setting. This will be accomplished through a variety of professional development to bring all populations of students to mastery of RSU14’s mathematics standards with a curriculum balance in concepts, skills, and application. This position supports the RSU14 Strategic Plan, Core Belief 3, Student Engagement and Core Belief 4, Staff Engagement.
Provide staff support in using student work to improve achievement through co-planning, co-teaching, reflection, and use of data.
Foster a community problem solving approach to managing math instruction including working with building administrators, standards based teachers, and Title 1 staff.
Build a common understanding of the foundations of mathematics.
Use data to drive professional development in a large group, small group, and individual learning environments.
Provide staff support when looking at the data and creating instructional plans to support MTSS.
Collaborate with staff, including Standards Based and Interventionists, to identify instructional strategies and effective instruction.
Manage resources so that teachers have what they need available.
Assist teachers with scope, sequence, and pacing to ensure the progression of learning for students.
Coordinate with the Director of Curriculum in plans to review math programs, interventions support, and supplemental materials.
Uses technology effectively.
Analyzes and uses data to inform instruction.
Evaluates each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understandings and prepares progress reports and grade reports.
Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly and productive classroom environment.
Selects and requisitions instructional materials and maintains required inventory records.
Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the District and/or self-selected professional growth activities
Participates in curriculum and other development programs within the school or on a District level
Performs other duties that may be reasonably requested by the Administration from time-to-time

Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree
State of Maine certification and endorsement in major area of teaching
Must meet Maine State Fingerprinting Requirement
- At least 1 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
- Bachelor degree preferred.
