Westbrook Regional Vocational Center (WRVC) is seeking a dynamic, highly skilled, and motivated individual for the position of Assistant Director. This role involves collaborating with the Director to lead and oversee Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities and the ability to collaborate effectively, demonstrated through a comprehensive understanding of contemporary CTE practices, staff development, and student support services.

This position necessitates expertise in supervising and evaluating staff members, engaging with students regarding Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and providing support for multilingual learners. The Assistant Director will foster an inclusive, innovative, and high-performing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Program Oversight

  • Support the Director in implementing and managing high-quality CTE programs that align with industry standards and workforce needs.
  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic initiatives to enhance student learning and career readiness.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations governing CTE programs.

Student Support & Equity

  • Work with students, teachers, and support staff to ensure successful implementation of IEPs and accommodations.
  • Develop strategies to support multilingual learners and ensure equitable access to CTE programs.
  • Collaborate with school counselors, special education teams, and industry partners to provide career guidance and support services.

Staff Development & Supervision

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate instructional and support staff to promote professional growth and effective teaching practices.
  • Coordinate professional development opportunities to enhance CTE instructional strategies and industry-aligned practices.
  • Foster a collaborative and inclusive work culture that supports innovation and continuous improvement.

Grant Writing and Management Support

  • Assist the Director in researching and identifying federal, state, and private funding opportunities that align with the school's CTE programs and goals.
  • Collaborate with the Director to write, edit, and prepare grant proposals, reflections, and applications.
  • Help compile and work with the Director on progress reports to state and federal grant organizations, ensuring that all data and outcomes are accurately captured and communicated.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Maintain strong relationships with local businesses, higher education institutions, and community organizations to expand students' career pathways.
  • Support recruitment and outreach efforts to increase student enrollment and engagement in CTE programs.
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and stakeholders to promote program success.=

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Master's degree in Educational Leadership, Career and Technical Education, or a related field.
  • Valid Maine administrative certification or ability to obtain.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in education, preferably in CTE, including leadership or administrative roles.
  • Strong knowledge of CTE curriculum.
  • Experience with staff supervision, evaluation, and professional development.

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Westbrook Regional Vocational Center (WRVC) is a collaborative Career and Technical Education (CTE) school of up to 400 learners and 25 staff. We are located in Wetsbrook, Maine and serve the districts of Westbrook, Scarborough, Gorham, MSAD 6 and RSU 14 and several other area high schools. Our 15 programs offer cutting-edge, rigorous, and relevant CTE learning that prepares students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, high-demand careers. CTE programs at WRVC blend content with real-world applications and live work-based learning to prepare students for college and career pathways. Students work in collaborative teams to develop solutions to authentic problems and learn to implement protocols and procedures in the classroom and the field.
