Full job description The Assistant Principal will assists the Principal in fulfilling his/her chief responsibilities of promoting quality learning for all students and promotion of district learning results.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Assists the principal in the general administration of the school, and serves as principal when the principal is absent.
- Supervises procedures established for absence, tardiness, make-up and special excuses, and necessary investigation of problem cases.
-Supervises conduct within the school, and oversees all disciplinary procedures, keeping records of any disciplinary action.
- Coordinates or assist in coordination of all student activities with respect to scheduling of buildings and other areas and arranging for student transportation to school supervised activities.
- Supervises the activities of teachers and other personnel having responsibilities for student supervision at lunch, school bus transportation, in study halls, at assemblies, concerts, etc., and as chaperones for special activities.
- Serves on committees that are intended to promote educational developments of the district.
- Provides special supervision and assistance for substitute teachers as required.
- Plans and supervises safe and efficient use of service areas, parking lots and bus loading areas.
- Supervises fire and other emergency drills directly related to student safety.
- Assists the principal in the supervision and evaluation of staff.
- Shares the responsibility of chairing Student Support Team meetings as part of our MTSS process.
-Oversee and support the school's implementation of School-Wide PBIS
-Assists the principal in establishing staff development opportunities in keeping with the district’s and school's goals.
- Assists the principal, and represents them as necessary, in all school sponsored activities.
- Assists the principal in developing the master schedule of classes and scheduling of extracurricular activities.
- Coordinates the section 504 process (Rehabilitation Act of 1973) to ensure accommodations are implemented for deserving students.
- Attends extracurricular activities.
- Attends and participates in all faculty meetings.
- Attends special events (graduation, award assemblies, etc...).
- Helps coordinate special testing situations (i.e. SATs, NWEAs, MEAs).
- Coordinates and plans special events (Spirit Week, Community Week, Pep Rallies)
- Provides support/liaison to Class Advisors and their activities.
- Coordinates and supervises special programs (Alternative Education, JMG, ELOs)
- Performs such other duties and assumes such other responsibilities as the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent may from time to time assign.

QUALIFICATIONS:
•Must have valid State of Maine Assistant Building Administrator or Building Administrator certification required
•Must have a minimum of a master’s degree
•Must have a minimum of three years experience in education including experience as a classroom teacher.
•Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
