Specific Job Details:
Starting July 1
Brief Job Duties:
Transportation Director in overseeing and coordinating transportation services for students. Serves as a backup to the Director.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the following areas:
1. Maintain safety standards in conformance with State and insurance regulations and develop a program of preventive safety.
2. Dispatches drivers and monitors routes using GPS and routing software.
3. Recruit, train, and supervise all transportation personnel, and make recommendations on their employment, transfer, promotion, and release.
4. Advise Superintendent of Schools on road hazards for decision on school closing.
5. Cooperate with Building Leaders and others responsible for planning special school trips.
6. Develop recommendations for future transportation needs based on the needs of the school department.
7. Schedule all routes for all students.
8. Coordinates with the Athletic Director to schedule all athletic trips.
9. Maintain all records, including assignment rosters, spare driver lists, and all reports pertinent to the operation of the
department.
10. Prepare budget for Superintendent of Schools on a yearly basis.
11. Maintain a system for the receipt and use of repair parts.
12. Handle student, parent, and driver public relations.

Certification/License:

Valid commercial driver's license with passenger endorsement.
Supervisory experience managing transportation staff.
Criminal History Record Check (CHRC), which includes Fingerprints on file with the Maine Department of Education


Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree preferred; high school diploma or equivalent required.
3-5 years experience in transportation operations, including dispatching, routing, and scheduling
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
Proficient with transportation software and GPS mapping.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations for student transportation.
