MaineHealth seeks Nephrologists (multiple openings) to work in Portland and Biddeford, ME. Nephrologists assess, diagnose, and treat patients with kidney disease and hypertension. Nephrologists provide and oversee diagnosing and treating kidney/renal issues and conditions, including complications, congenital abnormalities, vascular disease and surgery, extremely high blood pressure (hypertensive crisis), kidney stones (nephrolithiasis), endocrine and metabolic disorders, complications of malignancy, and complex multi-trauma injury. Nephrologists render medical services according to qualifications as Nephrologists to MaineHealth patients with appropriate specialist referrals, follow-up and hospitalization; communicate health status and treatment plan to patient and/or family in a way that is clearly understood; maintain patient confidentiality with no infractions; share after hour call on a rotation basis with other providers; and communicate in an effective manner with other providers and staff. Nephrologists render care in compliance with accepted standards of the profession; document information completely by use of written notes or dictation in compliance with regulatory requirements for patient care and billing purposes; assist in the review of office practices and objectives in order to determine compliance with applicable standards; and maintain ethical and professional standards of applicable national, state and local medical societies and licensing agencies. Qualified candidates must have a M.D. or D.O.; State of Maine Medical or Osteopathic License; Board certification in Internal Medicine and Board eligibility in Nephrology; 36-month medical residency and 24-month fellowship training in nephrology.
