Summary:
Mount Desert Island Hospital (MDIH) is looking for a dedicated and vigilant Security Officer to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is essential in maintaining the safety and security of MDIH property, supporting staff, and responding to emergencies or security breaches. The Security Officer will work independently and with the Nursing Supervisor to ensure a secure environment through regular rounds and a uniformed presence at our Main Entrance.
Job Type: Part-time (20-29 hrs.)

Requirements
Education, Training, or Certifications:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Successful completion of de-escalation training
Experience:
- Previous security experience preferred
Special Requirements:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to perform under stress and in tense situations
Cognitive Requirements:
- Ability to process and complete verbal tasks in emergencies
- Ability to prioritize and follow through
Physical Demands:
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for a 10-12 hour shift
- Adequate hearing, vision, speech, and manual dexterity
- General health to regularly work scheduled hours
- Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs
