Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Resource Supervisor serves as a clinical and professional resource and mentor for all nursing staff with a particular focus on the medical/surgical, swing and intensive care units. Oversees the day-to-day activities of the nursing staff.  Coordinates services among units/departments and provides a full range of direct nursing care and services as appropriate.  Works in cooperation with nursing leadership and providers to insure the delivery of the highest quality patient care. 

Essential Functions:

  1. Understands the Mission and Core Values of Northern Maine Medical Center
  2. Demonstrates competency, accountability, empathy and professional responsibility.
  3. Monitors and coordinates the daily patient care activities of the nursing units; schedules staff to ensure full coverage of patient care needs at all times and to ensure effective patient services and addresses staffing issues in a timely and effective manner.
  4. Coaches, mentors, and trains employees performing related work.
  5. Coordinates services with other patient care units as required; maintains communication with allied services and maintains community liaison as appropriate.
  6. Actively involved in quality assurance activities and compliance with operational standards
  7. Participates in program development, assists nursing leadership to maintain high performing teams and contributes to the development and implementation of operating policy and procedures.
  8. Demonstrates knowledge, understanding and application of hospital policies/procedures in performing job functions.
  9. Demonstrates sound judgment in handling situations not covered by written and/or verbal directions.
  10. Willingness to adjust personal schedule occasionally as workload fluctuates and department needs require.
  11. Identifies and makes recommendations for department processes to improve in service efficacy and efficiency.
