Volunteers of America Northern New England is seeking  part-time Mental Health Rehab Tech(s) 1 (MHRT1) to provide Daily Living Support Services "DLSS" to individuals in their home. Hiring for the Bangor and Belfast areas.

Working in this role would be a wonderful way to supplement your income and assist a community in need of your skill, diversity, compassion, and empathy. We offer an excellent starting wage (up to $20 with certain certifications and experience).

Please note: We are willing to train the right candidate (considerations for industry-related experience, including having a MHRT certification, strong employment history, and working with individuals in the mental health/mental illness field, among others).

Position Overview:

DLSS staff will work in the community and in the client’s home to provide therapeutic support to assist clients in learning, developing, and maintaining daily living skills. This service is designed to assist clients to maintain the highest level of independence possible. In this role DLSS staff will learn to recognize client triggers and support our clients to utilize coping strategies to decrease symptoms. You will assist clients in building skills, problem solving, accessing community resources, and maintaining their mental health successfully in the community. As a member of the shared community, you will be able to support the client in reaching daily successes and achieving greater long-term goals through guidance and empowerment.

This position is part-time with the ability to become full-time as we add clients to our expanding program.

  • We pay $18-20 hour starting pay, depending on experience.
  • We provide top-tier, progressive Mileage Reimbursement (rate is variable through economy shifts).

Essential Functions:

  • Provide DLSS services in their home and community.
  • Reinforcement of therapy activities.
  • Advocate for client rights and assist in facilitation inclusion in the community activities as allowed under Section 17 DLSS services.
  • Complete all necessary and required documentation.
  • Assist in securing and providing transportation as needed. This will include transportation of clients in your personal vehicle.
  • Maintain all required professional licensing and professional training and successfully complete other training required by regulation, funding sources or agency.
  • Maintain appropriate attendance per company policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required, college education in relevant field or experience in the behavioral health field preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic homemaking skills, understanding community resources, implementation of individual treatment plans and documentation of care preferred.
  • Ability to self-motivate and initiate work independently.
  • Excellent communication skills; active listening, written and oral record-keeping skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Valid driver’s license and transportation required. Employees must have a good driving record and at least three years’ driving experience.
  • Solid relationship building skills, with the ability to exhibit compassion and patience.
  • MHRT1 or ability to get certified.
