GORHAM SCHOOL DEPARTMENT

TITLE: Village Elementary School Assistant Principal

OVERVIEW: Village Elementary School, Gorham, Maine, is seeking a dynamic, student-centered educational leader to serve as Assistant Principal. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative partner who supports a positive school culture, supports high-quality teaching and learning, and fosters strong relationships with students, staff, and families. This leader will play a key role in supporting daily operations, promoting equity, and ensuring all students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

QUALIFICATIONS:



  1. Maine Department of Education certification as Assistant Building Administrator (#45)



  1. Successful experience working with elementary-level students preferred



  1. Prior leadership experience (formal or informal) preferred

REPORTS TO: Building Principal

JOB GOAL: To assist the building principal in managing and supervising the educational

program at the school.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



  1. Support the Principal in the overall leadership and management of the school.



  1. Promote a positive, inclusive, and safe school climate for all students and staff.



  1. Support instructional practices that drive student achievement and growth.



  1. Work collaboratively with teachers to review student data and enhance student learning outcomes.



  1. Support student behavior systems using restorative and trauma-sensitive approaches.



  1. Partner with families and community members to build strong, trusting relationships.



  1. Serves as the school's Section 504 Coordinator.
  2. Assist with staff supervision, evaluation, and professional growth.



  1. Coordinate and support school-wide initiatives, schedules, and daily operations.

WORK YEAR: Ten-month year. Salary and benefits to be established by the School Committee.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of

the School Committee's policy on evaluation ? Evaluation of Administrators.
