Description

We are seeking a Corporate Litigation Paralegal to join our team. While this role is ideally located in our Overland Park, KS office, we would be open for them to be in any of the larger Tyler office locations on a hybrid (2-3 days in office) arrangement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the company’s litigation portfolio, including tracking deadlines, budgets and outcomes.
  • Prepare and review legal documents with attorney supervision.
  • Research legal issues, regulations, legal articles and relevant supporting laws by using online and offline sources.
  • File and organize legal pleadings, legal correspondence, discovery, briefs, appeals and other legal documents.
  • Assist with investigations and the scheduling of interviews, meetings and depositions with internal client stakeholders.
  • Maintain all records for each litigated case.
  • Summarize interrogatories, testimonies and depositions.
  • Manage litigation holds.
  • Assist business with state, local and FCRA compliance with background checks.
  • Provide guidance on state-specific laws pertaining to the production of personnel records.
  • Assist with review of litigation pleadings, draft briefs and discovery responses.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support the company’s position in litigation.
  • Assist with non-compete disputes.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including other legal team members.
  • Perform special tasks as needed, which may include but not limited to learning new computer applications, such as litigation management software and databases.
  • Help create presentation slides to educate the company and employees on legal risks and compliance requirements.
  • Continuously identify opportunities to improve and streamline processes and procedures within the legal department.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity and professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Paralegal degree or certification required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of relevant paralegal commercial litigation experience with a law firm and/or in-house at a public company preferred.
  • Proficiency with high aptitude with Microsoft programs and applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams), Adobe Acrobat, DocuSign and contract management systems.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Careful attention to detail and high quality of work product.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to uphold the highest standards of discretion and confidentiality.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic and innovative team member with a strong work ethic.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative and develops new approaches when there is no precedence.
