About the Opportunity
About the Position:
Dr. Christine Lary’s research group at the Roux Institute and the Bouve School of Health Sciences at Northeastern University has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral fellow in musculoskeletal genomics.
The individual in this position will use innovative approaches in bioinformatics and epidemiology to study the molecular mechanisms of osteoporosis prevention by the beta blocker atenolol through analysis of pharmacogenetic and microRNA data sets.
This position will involve the use of advanced methods in data science, epidemiology, and bioinformatics. Molecular epidemiological analyses will include genome-wide association studies (GWAS), functional data analyses such as microRNA-seq, multiomic integration, and pathway and network analyses. Epidemiological approaches will include pharmacoepidemiology, causal inference, and Mendelian Randomization. The individual in this position will write manuscripts, present work at scientific conferences, and communicate with collaborators.
Qualifications:
MD or PhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Genetics or related field by the appointment start date.
Preferred:
- Strong programming skills in R or related statistical software
- Research background in biostatistics, statistical genetics, computational biology, or genomics
- Experience in one or more of the following: genome wide association studies (GWAS), whole genome or whole exome sequencing, RNA-seq, Mendelian Randomization, pharmacoepidemiology, causal inference, multiomic integration, pathway and network analysis
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
