About the Team/Role

Payzer, a WEX Company, creates software solutions to help contractors simplify their business and make life easier.

Our software product, Payzerware, is an end-to-end Field Service Management platform that helps contractors run their business, grow sales, and simplify back-office operations. Payzerware provides complete business management including schedule / dispatch, invoicing, sales proposals, and maintenance agreements. It also enables a full range of payment and financing solutions, which further help contractors decrease outstandings, generate more revenue per job, and save time.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the reliability and availability of our cloud-based systems and applications. Leveraging your expertise in AWS, Linux, ECS, Docker, Terraform, Gitlab, RDS, MySQL, and Datadog, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to support and optimize our infrastructure to meet the demands of our rapidly growing user base.

How you'll make an impact:

  • Maintain and update highly available and scalable infrastructure on AWS, utilizing services such as ECS, RDS, and other cloud-native technologies.
  • Maintain and update automated deployment pipelines using Docker, Terraform, and GitLab CI/CD to streamline the release process and ensure consistency across environments.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement proactive measures to prevent downtime using monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog and Cloudwatch.
  • Collaborate with development teams to optimize application performance, reliability, and scalability through infrastructure improvements and optimizations.
  • Implement and enforce security best practices to safeguard our infrastructure and data, including access control, encryption, and compliance with industry standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents promptly, diagnosing and resolving issues to minimize impact on our users and business operations.
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt new technologies and best practices to improve our infrastructure, automation, and overall reliability.

Experience you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux systems administration, shell scripting, and AWS CLI.
  • Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration frameworks like ECS, EKS, or Kubernetes.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure-as-code principles and experience with tools like Terraform for automated provisioning and configuration management.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git for managing infrastructure code and configurations.
  • Familiarity with relational database management systems, particularly RDS, Aurora, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog for performance monitoring, logging, and alerting.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • AWS certification(s) (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer) preferred but not required.
