  • Gorham Middle School - School Counselor

    Gorham Middle School is seeking a compassionate, student-centered school counselor to join our team starting in the 2026?2027 school year. The ideal candidate is committed to supporting the academic, social-emotional, and developmental needs of young adolescents while working collaboratively with staff, students, and families.

    Responsibilities
  • Provide individual and small group counseling to support students' social-emotional well-being, academic progress, and post-secondary readiness
  • Implement a comprehensive school counseling program aligned to state and national standards
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams, administration, and student support staff to address student needs
  • Use data to identify trends, inform interventions, and monitor student progress
  • Assist with student scheduling, transitions, and academic planning
  • Communicate proactively with families and connect them with appropriate resources
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, professional development, and team meetings

    Qualifications
  • Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field required
  • Maine certification as a School Counselor (075) required or anticipated by start date
  • Experience working with middle school students preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
  • Knowledge of adolescent development, social-emotional learning, and restorative practices preferred
