The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of an Instructional Coach - Special Education PreK-12 for the 2026-27 school year.

TITLE: Instructional Coach (2026-27 School Year)

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Maine Teaching Certification - 282 PreK-12

2. A Master's Degree, be matriculated in a Master's program or equivalent course work

3. Minimum of 3 years of classroom teaching experience

4. Experience with a variety of curricula to include Number Worlds and Lexia.


5. Proficient with progress monitoring (collecting, interpreting, and informing).

REPORTS TO: Building Principals

JOB GOAL: Work with colleagues to introduce new learning to students by focusing on practical strategies for engaging students and improving their learning through non-supervisory instructional leadership.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Contributes to the implementation of the District's mission and goals.
  2. Implements the core practices for student-centered coaching, including:
    1. Organizing coaching through cycles
    2. Setting goals for coaching cycles
    3. Using standards-based learning targets
    4. Using student evidence to co-plan instruction
    5. Co-teaching with a focus on effective instructional practices
    6. Measuring the impact of coaching on student and teacher learning
    7. Partnering with the school leader
  3. Designs systems and structures to engage teachers in coaching cycles.
  4. Builds trusting and respectful relationships with teachers.
  5. Provides skilled facilitation during collaboration and professional learning as needed for the school and for the district.
  6. Engages in reflective dialogue with teachers based on student learning outcomes.
  7. Meets regularly with the building principal to discuss the state of academics, current trends and the needs for student learning and staff professional development.
  8. Maintains currency in research-based instructional practices and engages in coach training and ongoing professional development.
  9. Assists in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve the focus of instructional planning and student achievement.
  10. Assists grade level teams in setting goals for improved instruction and intervention implementation.
  11. Attends meetings as assigned (such as leadership team, PLC, district meetings, etc)
  12. Maintains records and prepares forms and reports as directed. (such as coaching logs, calendars, meeting minutes, etc.)
  13. Assumes such other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by the immediate supervisor.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: See current Agreement between the MSAD #17 Board of Directors and the Oxford Hills Education Association.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Building Principal in collaboration with the Curriculum Coordinator for Instructional Coaching.
