POSITION OVERVIEW: Dedicated Building Substitute (Full Time) - Multiple Openings System Wide, 25-26 SY **UPDATE: As of June 6, 2025, there are openings remaining at Ocean Ave, Talbot, and Rowe.**
Portland Public Schools has multiple Dedicated Building Substitute openings available for the 2025-2026 school year at a variety of Elementary Schools throughout the district. Schools with openings include: Longfellow, Lyseth, Ocean Ave, Talbot, and Rowe.
Assigned to a specific school for the entire year, the Dedicated Substitute is onsite daily and able to fill in as needed, assisting with daily classroom functions, implementing lesson plans, and monitoring and supporting students. At times, the Dedicated Substitute may be assigned to the same classroom for multiple days. The Dedicated Substitute plays an essential role in providing continuity and consistency for the students at their assigned school. This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity for those who are passionate about helping students reach their full potential.
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EMPLOYMENT DETAILS:

- Full Time, 1.0 FTE
- Pay = $28.42 / hr (that’s $198.94 / day for a standard 7-hour day)
- Eligible for $500 / month toward a PPS medical benefits plan
